International Dot Day with Mr. Don

My students celebrated International Dot Day this year. International dot Day is a global celebration of creativity. This is all based on the Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot. The Dot is the story of a teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence. For this activity we read the book and then looked at the work of artist like Lichtenstein, Yayoi Kusama, and Paul Signac. The students then utilized dot markers to make a variety of forms and compositions.
