Nov 2025: Fall Artwork with Ms. Ashley W.
Miss Ashley has been creating a fall festival of artwork with her Kindergarten and Pre-K students. The Kindergarteners created beautiful fall tree collages using the outline of their hand and torn paper for leaves. To add emphasis to the fall weather students stamped warm color dots to show leaves blowing off of the trees. The Pre-K students got to experiment with printmaking using apple stamping to create an orange Halloween pumpkin. After they dried, students drew silly fac

Nov 2025: Frida Kahlo-inspired Still Life with Ms. Tricia
We studied Frida Kahlo and her art. We talked about the shapes of fruit, foreground and background. We used texture rollers to apply tempura paint and oil pastels to create a colorful still life. Most students used fruit templates that I made for them to trace and used adaptive scissors to cut the fruit out. The fruit was added with glue and pastels were encouraged to add outlines, highlights and more layers.

Nov 2025: Art Activities with Mr. Jason
I am happy to share with you what we have been up to in Mr. Jason’s Adaptive Art class this Autumn! High School students created these amazing “Concentric Circles” using paint and torn paper. We also designed our own robots to the music of Mr. Roboto by the band, Styx. Elementary students created cobwebs using marbles and paint in a “shake box”. Once our cobwebs were dry, we added cotton ghosts and sponge print spiders. We also made “A pumpkin in the meadow” and learned about

Oct 2025-Owl Collages with Ms. Ashley
In Ms. Ashley’s Adaptive Art class, PSE students are learning about NEUTRAL COLORS and the season AUTUMN (or Fall). Students used the “pinch and tear” technique to create neutral-colored feathers for the oval-shaped body of their baby owl. During the second session for this project, students explored multiple co.llage techniques to add characteristics to their owl, create a night sky, and an autumn tree branch. We also read the story Little Owl’s Night by Divya Srinivasan

Oct 2025-Hispanic Heritage Month Picasso with Mr. Rob
In high school we learned about Pablo Picasso for Hispanic Heritage Month. We looked at a world map to find Spain and saw a musical video celebrating Hispanic Culture. We learned about Picasso and his use of the Bull as a motif in his work. Students selected complementary colors and geometric shapes a la Cubism to make the head of a Cow/Bull. The class also explored tints and shades by adding black and white to their color choices.

Special Olympics with Mr. Don
On Tuesday 9/30 special Olympics for elementary softball was held. We at adaptive art had a table set up as a station so the students could relax from the games and participate in some creativity. Good times were had by all.
