Paper Sculptures with Ms. Joanne

High Schoolers really enjoyed creating these paper sculptures. We took our time and made it a two week project and could have extended it longer with a longer introduction and hanging them. I showed a video with examples of paper sculptures, and then we went to work cutting the strips (for some students they were already precut) and I demonstrated how to roll, twist, fold, fringe, and swirl the paper. SO MUCH FUN! The first day we painted the cardboard base, then we let dry and cut out the strips and folded them. The next lesson we GLUED and then came up with names for our art pieces.

For the younger students (PreK & PSE) we talked about Mosaics and created snails. They really enjoyed gluing the different colors. For some students I used pre cut and for others we ripped and tore painted paper and construction paper. Had a blast. I also showed “The Snail Trail” story which tied into our lesson perfectly!
