Spring Art Skills!
We have been exploring Spring through Adaptive Art with Mr. Rob. In March we talked about folktales, saw a slideshow, and sang with a YouTube video learning about Ireland as we made a "Pot O' Gold" . We learned about space, colors of the rainbow, texture, and mixing secondary colors.
In April we learned about how frogs grow in making our paper sculpture illustration of a frog catching a bug. We looked at a book about frogs and saw a slideshow on the iPad. We also heard and saw a variety of frogs and their calls through YouTube videos. We followed directions, used cutting skills, learned about texture, and talked about what makes a sculpture to create our pieces.
Spring also finds us learning about how flowers grow. We enjoyed a story from Eric Carle about a flower and saw a slide show on the iPad explaining how seeds lead to flowers. We took our time making a stem, leaves , and flower using tissue paper, cardboard tubes, construction paper, crayons, markers, and scissors. We learned about primary colors, mixing colors, texture, overlap, lines, and sculpture.
