Inspiring Line Landscapes

In art this week, our class read Lines that Wiggle by Candace & Steve Whitman. This story describes lines and displays silly images of where you might find them. (Click the title to view a YouTube video reading of the story). The students were excited to learn and review all kinds of LINES: straight, dotted, wavy, zigzag, dashed, and more!

After viewing artwork by artist Paul Klee, the students chose from a selection of landscape scenes to recreate. First, we practiced our skills drawing lines using pencils. Next, we traced our lines using permanent markers. Finally, we practiced our warm and cool color schemes, and used these colors when coloring with colored pencils. The three lines represent the foreground, the middle ground, and the background.

Can you guess what we drew?
