Texture & Color Mixing!

Artist Inspired Landscape & Winter Constellations!

This week we looked at images of the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights. For this project, we took our inspiration from the Georgia O’Keefe painting titled Ladder to the Moon. Mixing our choice of two primary colors, we used a brayer to spread paint across the paper we used for our background. Using shapes cut from previously painted paper, we built a textured landscape and floating ladder - our own version of O’Keeffe’s Surrealistic artwork - with a background that included aspects of the Aurora Borealis!

**Some classes focused more on color mixing for this project. Following the same steps for their background, they then used cookie cutters to stamp in winter animal shapes to create constellations in the night sky!
